Guidelines to achieve the best artwork
Below are some guidelines to help clarify what we need to achieve the best results for your products.
The type of artwork you will need to supply will depend on the printing process used for that particular product. Please refer to our guide below to enable you to supply the correct artwork. If you have any queries at all or are unsure about if the artwork you have is suitable, please let us know ? We will be able to check the artwork you have and advise. If necessary we can get the artwork redrawn in the correct format, although this service will carry a charge which is dependent on how complex the design is ? a quote can be supplied.
This type of artwork can be used for the majority of print processes. For example; the print on to pens, electrical items, etc. Vector eps files can also be easily edited at the pre-press stage of production if required. Artwork can be saved or exported as a vector eps file from the majority of graphic art applications such as Adobe Illustrator, Corel Draw, Adobe Indesign and Quark Xpress. Your vector eps file should include Pantone colour references, all fonts converted to outlines and where possible try to eliminate the use of single colour rasterised images. The majority of print processes and product types don?t allow for the reproduction of tints of a solid colour, any tinted areas of your artwork will need to be converted to a solid colour.
This file type can usually only be reproduced using heat transfer or lithographic print processes. High resolution CMYK EPS, TIFF or JPEG images are required with a resolution of at least 300dpi at the size to be printed.
Both vector and rasterised file types can also be converted and supplied as editable or high resolution PDF?s.
A raster image forms a series of bits of information which translate into pixels or dpi (dots per inch). These pixels form single or multi colour points which create an overall image. This type of image can be difficult to edit, raster images usually look smooth when viewed as a photograph or drawing, but when enlarged in size, the pixels become apparent and the image appears jagged and of poor quality.
